Human Resource Competency Study 2012
The Human Resource Competency Study (HRCS) began in 1987 and has been updated every 5 years, making this the 6th round of data collection. The HRCS is the largest global study on HR with over 60,000 ratings over 25 years and one of the most referenced HR studies in the world. The HRCS has helped define and shape the role of HR as a strategic contributor in business operations.
The 2012 study examines individual competence and how the HR department influences business results, which will shape the next five years of the HR profession. The study seeks to answer the questions, “What knowledge and abilities are necessary for successful HR professionals and HR departments?” and “How are requirements and expectations evolving over time, across industries, by region?” The HRCS is conducted jointly by The RBL Group, the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and our Regional Partners.
The data collection phase of the 2012 HR Competency Study is now complete! Participation in the study has far exceeded our expectations,with over 20,000 surveys in our data sample. This is by far the largest and broadest data set of any round of the HR Competency Study since it began in 1987. We have fantastic representation from most regions of the world and we are excited to share the research findings. The new HR Competency Model is currently being developed and we are planning several regional feedback conferences and publications based on the data results.
