Bob is a Managing Director at RBL. Prior to joining RBL, Bob was a global practice leader at Hewitt Associates, having led at various times, the organization effectiveness, human resource and the talent, leadership and engagement practices.
Bob is the author of 6 books and over 60 articles on leadership, talent management, HR strategy, innovation, the future of HR and the global workforce. He has collaborated with and co-authored articles and books with some of the world’s leading thinkers including Rosabeth Moss Kanter (Harvard Business School), Jeffrey Sonnenfeld (Yale University), Marshall Goldsmith, Dave Ulrich, and Michael Treacy. Leadership and Governance from the Inside Out, co-edited with Jeff Sonnenfeld was called a ” thoughtful framework for rebuilding trust in business” by Jeff Immelt CEO of General Electric. Doug Conant, CEO of Campbell Soup called it “superbly crafted, thought-provoking and compelling”. Bob is the co-author of Leading the Way:Three Truths from the Top Companies for Leaders which David Cote, CEO of Honeywell, said offers “actionable insights” and the authors “focus on things that matter.” His book Bad Business was called a “masterful job” by Tom Peters and “high drama and a facinating story” by Rosabeth Moss Kanter. Bob was the creator and Executive sponsor of a landmark study on leadership—the Top Companies for Leaders which is done in partnership with the RBL Group, Fortune Magazine and AonHewitt. His book Human Resources in the 21st Century was one of the “Top 10 HR books for 2005”. And, Workforce Wake-up Call:Your Workforce is Changing are you?, a book Bob co-edited in 2006, captures the global talent challenges and what leading companies are doing to address them.
Bob’s consulting focuses on developing HR strategies that drive more effective management of people. He has extensive experience in developing HR and talent strategies, and preparing HR leaders and their teams for addressing them. He also helps clients build more effective leadership drawing on his own leadership experiences, years of consulting to the world’s most admired companies, and the Top Companies for Leaders Study.
Bob holds a PhD from Yale University.
