On a recent RBL Institute mini-forum call, we discussed Succeeding in the C-Suite. This white paper summarizes our discussion.

Our Premise: Today’s challenging economic and competitive landscape is placing extraordinary demands upon corporations and their senior HR leaders. This is leading to a new set of challenges (and opportunities) for HR. There are elevated expectations of senior HR leaders now that they have earned a “seat at the table.” The C-suite expects HR to bring even more to the table, which will require HR leaders to learn and practice new, innovative ways of thinking about and adding value in the C-suite.

Key Questions Covered
- What unique challenges are you and your company facing? In other words, what are 2-3 strategic issues that keep you awake at night?
- How have your CEO’s expectations of HR changed?
- What critical skills and experiences have you found are needed by senior HR leaders to successfully address business challenges? What has helped you prepare for your position?
- As you look into the next year, what are the 1-2 areas you are seeking to learn more about?
- What would be one word of wisdom you would have for others based on your experience on what it takes to succeed in the HR C-suite?
